A celebration of all (well most) things Prachett!!!

Now into its third month (my God it seems like an eternity- no really) Dublin in SL's newest venue- O'Caseys bar keeps on going (something we are not just proud off- but also amazed at).
What is O'Caseys?
Well as Dublin in SL is recognized as one of the most finest venues for live music we wanted to offer something 'different'- welcome to the venue dedicated to spoken word/prose/poetry and other such wonderfulness*.

So thats who we are- now onto the celebration of Terry Prachett...

After JK Rowling he is the best selling English author- and is much much funnier!
We are all massive fans down here in O'Caseys bar and we have decided to celebrate this mans awesome talent by holding a month long orgy of Prachett indulgence!
And to do this we need YOUR help- you the fans of Terry Pratchett!
You see we believe the best content comes from the users of Second Life- from fans themselves.
For two reasons- one 'cos its more passionate.  And two- 'cos its free!!!!

There are three ways to get involved-
One- Turn up and enjoy our stonkingly funny Pratchett events!
Two- TAKE PART in our stonkingly funny events.
And what events are they?  Well, there are two types of events...

*My Favorite Pratchett Chapter!!!
This is the main kind of event- you pick ONE chapter of Terry Prachett from ANY of the Discworld books- and we listen to it.
Either YOU read it aloud or you ask one of O'Caseys staff to read it aloud (we be good at this) and everyone turns up and just giggles.
And yes some of the early books did not have 'chapters' per se- so in that case we just ask you to pick between 35 and 50 minutes worth of extract.
When we did Tolkien we could average up to about three a week- but we can fit in about 4/5.
Pratchett Month is just that- one month long, so everything is done quick and fast!

So- ask yourself- if you could pick just ONE chapter of the mans work- one chapter you would be willing to say 'This is him at his best'- what would it be?
(also could you read it without falling apart giggling- not always the easiest thing in the world I promise you)


*The Unseen University Lectures!
Simply- wherein you, being a total fan, get up and talk about some aspect of the Discworld for about an hour.  Or so.  And make it interesting.
What about specifically?  I dunno.  You the fans with a huge amount of knowledge, will decide.  The first one will be called
"A guide to Ankh-Morpork and its colorful inhabitants for those who have never been there before and feel they should jolly well find out before going there." 
Its kinda a guide to people who do not know the Discworld books.
The title need a bit of work. Maybe I should call it 'Hot Latex Joy'?

As you can see- the bits of the Discworld books and the lectures are not set- we will need your help to set them and make them happen.
Please get in contact with me, Danton Thirroul (preferably by notecard as IM's can have this annoying tendency to get capped) and we can get you involved in this wonderful madness!!!

Oh and one final complication in all of this- we are NOT voice enabled.
Such a thing would be horrendous!
If you wanna perform we 'stream' you like any performer- and O'Caseys is proud to enable new members start streaming for the first time... its not rocket science and more should do it!+

The management of O'Caseys would like it to be known we do not expect nor want any money out of this; any readings of materials written by Mr. Pratchett are done totally respecting his copyright and intellectual property and we do it as fans to celebrate his brilliant writing and encourage others to read his books- honest!  We are not going to play silly buggers!
Besides, I live in the West Country- he could get into a car and pop round and watch as some minion kicks my head in if I did that- not that he WOULD do that, I am just saying...

*- That's a REAL word.  No honest.  It is.
#- We are in no way affiliated to any attempt to establish as Discworld role-play Sim, nor do we wish to be seen as some kinda threat to other fans, nor will we engage in 'We were here first so that makes us his elite' kinda discussions... we are just looking for NORMAL non-scary fans to just come and enjoy his books yeah?  Stop sending us death threats... and can we have our cat back please?
